Wooden Bulrushes

Whether placed in your front entry, slipped into a vase, or displayed in your office, these artistic pieces are sure to grab your guest’s attention.

The leaves are made from salvaged Sitka Spruce guitar tops that were set aside as “seconds” by the manufacturer. Each leaf is cut to shape, sanded, then steam bent by hand into the unique twists and curls that bring the set of bulrushes to life.

The tops are made from a variety of woods ranging from Black Walnut to Fir. Some tops were made from closet coat hanger rods salvaged from old buildings. These are all shaped by hand on a lathe so no one piece is the same.

Each set of Bulrushes comes with a base for display. The Bulrushes can be removed for transport, storage, or slipped into a vase for a different look altogether. The base is signed, dated, and lists the history of the wood used to create each set.

All joints are glued with Titebond Original Wood Glue which meets the certification criteria of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program as well as the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s)

Testimonial: "Clegg Woodcrafts designed wooden bulrushes, with live edge stands using a variety of wood found locally. The Fraser Valley Conservancy saw this unique art piece as the perfect gift to give Legacy building donors as a way of thanking them for such large contributions towards protecting sensitive environments." Natashia Cox, Executive Assistant, Field & Office Manager, Fraser Valley Conservancy.
